Azerbaijan Tourism Board and Uzbekistan’s National Promotion Center have launched a series of events across Europe to promote the shared heritage of the Silk Road.
The initiative aims to strengthen partnerships within the European tourism sector, highlight the cultural, historical, and natural tourism assets of both countries, and present them as attractive destinations along the Silk Road, one of the world’s most significant travel routes.
The series of events began in Frankfurt and Vienna, with a total of 16 industry partners participating, including Azerbaijan Airlines and Uzbekistan Airways. These events are designed to further consolidate connections with stakeholders in the European tourism market.
Participants included Leyla Gasimova, Director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center, Florian Zengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Austria, as well as representatives from the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee and the Uzbekistan National Promotion Center.
The events will continue from October 16 to 24 in four major European cities: Zurich, Budapest, Prague, and Barcelona.
In each city, the program will include presentations of the countries’ tourism opportunities, B2B meetings, and media activities.
It should be noted that these events are organized under a cooperation memorandum signed between the Azerbaijan Tourism Board and Uzbekistan’s National Promotion Center, focusing specifically on the Silk Road heritage.
